A headmaster of a government primary school in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh was suspended after a VHP leader Ambarish Mishra (a Brahmin) filed a complaint alleging that the teacher made students recite a Muslim prayer, during the morning assembly. [1]

VHP or the Vishwa Hindu Parishad is a militant Hindu-Brahmin organisation founded by MS Golwalkar, SS Apte and Swami Chinmayananda (all Brahmins) in 1964 with an objective to consolidate and protect Hindu-Brahmanism. Its website eulogises radical Brahmanical texts like Ramayana and Gita that denigrate the vast majority of Indians as Shudras, impure and untouchables. These books have been condemned by Dalit-Bahujan leader Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar in his book ‘Riddles of Hinduism’

Though Pilibhit district magistrate told the Indian Express that the headmaster had been suspended “because he was not getting the national anthem sung,” both BEO (Block Education Officer) and BSA (Basic Shiksha Adhikari) refuted his claim.

The prayer in question is a Hindi (Urdu) poem ‘Lab Pe aati hai Dua’ written by Muhammad Iqbal who also wrote Tarana-e-Hind ‘Sare Jahan se AchhaThe poem is often sung in schools across India and touches upon various aspects like poverty alleviation, progressive and egalitarian nationalism, etc.

The English translation of the poem is as follows-

My wishes come to my lips as supplication of mine
Oh Lord! May my life be like a flickering flame
.

May the world’s darkness disappear through the life of mine
May every place light up with the sparkling light of mine
.

May my homeland attain elegance through me
As the garden attains elegance
through flowers.

May my life be like that of the moth be oh Lord
May I love the lamp of knowledge Oh Lord

May my life’s aim be to support the poor
And to love the suffering and the elderly
.

My Lord! Protect me from the evil ways
and Show me the path of righteousness.

The song fully upholds the broad and transformative Indian constitutional values of justice, equality and empathy towards the marginalised sections of the society. It’s unfortunate that such magnificent lines on poverty alleviation and sufferings are missing in both the Indian national anthem and the so-called national song ‘Vande Matram’ (written by a Brahmin) that Hindu-Brahmanists are so proud and fond of.

And who can oppose this beautiful song by Allama Iqbal except those with sick, inherently Brahmanical, anti-poor, and unconstitutional mentality? People of India especially the Bahujans need to realise that people with such mentality only want to brainwash their children into shouting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ (long live mother India), bowing before stone idols and eulogising the Hindu-Brahmanism without effectively doing any substantive work for the realisation of the constitutional goals.

As is also evident from this incident, they will not let anyone inculcate any Islamic-egalitarian and scientific temper in Bahujan children lest they could pose threat/challenge to the established caste hierarchies and Brahmin dominated Hindu social order of India. By incessant Islamophobia, they possibly want to pre-empt any possibility of social rapprochement and political alliances between Bahujans and Muslims. Bahujans should look into whether there is an inverse relationship between their socio-economic progress and the rise of Hindu-Brahmanism.

Generally, whenever there has been the rise of Hindu-Brahmanism or upholders of Hindu Shastras in India, Bahujans have faced a painful socio-economic downfall. If this were not the case then why Indian economy especially the agricultural sector has been steadily falling since the rise of Brahmanical forces under BJP and Congress Governments and why the representation of Bahujans especially the OBCs has drastically gone down in public institutions.[3] They need to ask themselves as to why the majority of ministerial posts in successive Indian governments (including the current one) continue to be occupied by Hindu upper castes even in the democratic India where Bahujans constitute the majority of electorates.[4] As per the recently released Global Hunger Index’s 2019 report, India has been placed at 102nd position in the list of 117, far behind Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Over one in every five children in India is “wasted” (low weight for height), the highest for any country in the report. [5] They need to think realistically as to who is to blame for all this and not fall for diversionary and deceitful tactics of Hindu-Brahmanism.

Brahmanism according to eminent social scientist Rajeev Bhargava is a sociopolitical ideology that encodes a memory of an ideal past and a vision of society in the future, in which Brahmins (due to their superior position and knowledge stemming from birth) are naturally and intrinsically superior to all other human beings, so superior that they form a separate species (jati) altogether and that nothing can challenge or alter this fact.

It’s stark similarity with Nazism that vouched for the superiority of Aaryan race is self-evident.

And why would they hate Islam and anything associated with it so much? Possibly because Islam is an egalitarian faith whose doctrines contradicts with their claims of racial, caste and national superiority/purity.

Have you not seen those who claim themselves to be pure and superior? Rather, Allah purifies whom He wills, and injustice is not done to them, even as much as a thread inside a date seed. Look how they invent lies against Allah! but that by itself is a manifest sin!

Al-Quran 4:49-50

And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. Allah said, “Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people.” Abraham said, “And of my descendants?” Allah said, “My covenant does not extend to the wrongdoers.”

Al-Quran 2:127

But the Jews and the Christians say, “We are the children of Allah and are His beloved.” Say, “Then why does He punish you for your sins?” Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.

Al-Quran 5:18

Update– After facing criticism over the issue, Uttar Pradesh education Minister intervened 2 days later and assured that the he has sought a report from the Education Directorate and the headmaster’s suspension will be revoked soon as the poem in question is a patriotic poem by Iqbal and there is nothing objectionable about it. [6] He also said that the BSA and the District Magistrate acted hastily.

Peace! 🌹
