Today many people knowingly or unknowingly associate extremism and terrorism to religions and particularly blame Islam in this regard.  They probably do not know that some of the most gruesome and large-scale genocides in History have been committed by atheist and communist regimes. Islam rejects extremism Respects diversity and inclusiveness. It even says that there is no compulsion in religion as truth stands out clear from falsehood.

  • Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 473, Narrated Jarir bin `Abdullah: Allah’s Messenger (s) said, “Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to mankind.
  • Al-Quran 5:77 Say: “O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.
  • Al-Quran 5:32 On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.
  • Al-Quran 6:151 Say: “Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from”: Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;– We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
  • Al-Quran 2:256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from falsehood: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
  • Al-Quran 42:8 And if Allah willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.
  • Al-Quran 42:7-And those who take as protectors others besides Him, Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs.
  • Al-Quran 16:125 Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.
  • Al-Quran 42:15 So to that [religion of Allah ] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, “I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur’an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination.
  • Al-Quran 28:56 It is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one, whom thou lovest; but Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance.
  • Al-Quran 6:108 Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.
  • Al-Quran 4:171 O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth
  • Al-Quran 30:26 And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know.
  • Al-Quran 49:6 O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.
  • Al-Quran 2:178 O ye who believe! the law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.
  • Al-Quran 2:179-In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves.
  • Al-Quran 5:69-Those who believe (in the Qur’an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians, any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,-on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
  • Al-Quran 2:62-Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
  • Al-Quran 4:170-O Mankind! The Messenger hath come to you in truth from Allah: believe in him: It is best for you. But if ye reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
  • Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 48, Number 821- It was narrated by Anas (s)- The Prophet was asked about the great sins and he said, They are:—
    1. To join others in worship with Allah,
    2. To be undutiful to one’s parents.
    3. To kill a person
    4. And to give a false witness.”
  • Al-Quran 42:38-43 Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves. The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.
  • Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 42: Narrated Jarir bin ‘Abdullah: The Prophet said, “He who is not merciful to others, will not be treated mercifully.”
  • Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 3, Number 71, Narrated Muawiya (r): I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah
